Why are airline tickets so expensive when planning ahead of time?
For the past month i've been checking the cost of airline tickets to go from Kansas City, MO from La guardia in NY in June untill early july, around the 8th or so, ticket prices have only gotten more expensive, last friday they were 50 dollars cheaper. I'm confused since I don't know if the prices will get lower if i wait :/ It's only about a 2 hour flight too. Does anyone know if the prices will get lower or if theres anything i can do?

You never know for sure whether the price will go up or down this far in advance. It normally depends on supply and demand, June/July is during the high season for travel in the US. Keep an eye on prices, but once you get within 21 days or so from your departure date, they'll usually go nowhere but up. If you see a good price, you should probably go ahead and purchase the ticket.

Airline ticket prices are constantly fluctuating. It can change 3 times a day. Just keep looking and who knows, maybe the ticket prices will drop one of these days. You still have time. Just as Gerald J wrote, June and July is a more expensive time to fly. I would also recommend you search flying out of JFK, Newark or Philadelphia as alternate airports. Sometimes airlines will have deals from surrounding airports.

go to BookMe. You can compare prices on all the major travel sites from one location. It's the only way you can guarantee the cheapest prices online.
