Recommendations for transportation between Overland Park, Kansas and Amtrak at Union Station, Kansas City, MO?
What would be the best, cheapest way to get there? I'm carrying a large check-thru suiter and a conventional carry-on as I'm connecting to a flight out of LAX, but would enjoy a nice, long train ride first! Has anyone done this and, if so, approximate cost, most reliable, etc.? I don't mind sharing a van with other folks as long as it can accommodate my luggage! Thanks in advance for your help!

Unless you can find a friend to drive you, I think you are looking at two options. 1) Taxi - the more expensive, but more reliable option. I can't imagine one not being able to transport your luggage too. Call the taxi service ahead of time to schedule it, and you're set. Not sure on prices, but I'd guess somewhere in the $20-$40 range (really, this is just a stab in the dark). 2) Bus - By far the cheaper (should be just a few dollars), but more of a hassle. There are connections between the Johnson County and KCMO busses. Planning out your route can be a pain, but you can go to Google Maps, plug in your address and Union Station, and select Public Transit for means of travel and select a time, and it will give you the route, including any walking you need to do to get to the station. Call to make sure they'll have room for your luggage, but if you're able to carry both yourself up narrow steps without assistance, shouldn't be an issue. Make sure you have exact fares. This will also be by far the lengthiest option, so plan well in advance.
