don't be afraid of O'Hare- getting through it is easy. get one of those neck pillows. drink a lot of liquor, but not so much that you have to vomit.

Prepare yourself by researching the airports that you will be travelling via. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the airport so you are prepared when you get there. Check out your itinerary and note the arrival/departure gates (if possible) and map your path. Also take note of the bathrooms etc. As for what to do, there will not be a great deal for you to do other than what you have already mentioned unless cross word puzzles, reading and/or games on your phone (if your phone has flight mode of course) interest you.

I assumed you are travelling form Manila. If this will be your first time, nothing to worry about because flying is really exciting and full of fun. First, be at the airport as early as you can, I am sure you don't want to miss your flight because of traffic. Second, unclutter your self, don't wear too many accessories and clothes with metal in it, shoes are to be removed during the security check and it is mandatory. Visit this website for more information about the security procedures: www.cbp.gov Your flight is pretty tring because you will be flying to the east, unfortunately, while onboard you can't do much things rather than reading, watching movies, listening to musics and sleep. You are required to remain seated and fasten your seatbelts at all times. Try to stand once in a while or walk in the isle pretending you will go to the lavatory, this will help proper blood circulation. O'Hare is not that huge, compare to JFK. You can check the image in Google maps or download Google Earth so you will have the idea how it looks like.

bring a book. people watch. Chicago O'hare is huge. But the people there will help you if you don't know where to go. Everything is well marked. I asked one of the janitors where to grab a bite to eat. He gave me a good spot to eat and good directions on how to get there. Any airline personal will help you too.

Be sure your ipod is charged, maybe even bring two. I guess there really isn't much to do except what you listed. If you get confused at O'Hare don't be afraid to ask questions because it is much too big to take a wrong turn, it might cost you a lot of time. Ha! You didn't list looking out of the window!

call a friend or family member when you can. for the plane ride, have like a movie or something. something to keep you entertained. even music makes the plane ride go by fast..
