I'm boarding my first flight tomorrow morning. Traveling to Denver from the east coast. I have two layovers, first in Chicago, then Kansas City.

Hi there, I am not sure how old you are but, I had a few drinks at the airport the first time I flew and every time since than since I dont really care for it. Here are some fyi's that I found out the first time I flew and it freaked me out a bit but now its nothing. First thing is that I thought take off would be more like a space shuttle take off with vibrations and things like that. NOTHING like that. Very smooth as soon as the plane leaves the ground you cannot feel how fast you are going at all. You can only tell how fast when you are on the ground and things are wizzing by. Secondly they will let off the engines at some point. Freaked me out the first time. I was like 'WHY ARE WE STOPPING IN THE AIR??" not a big deal. They need to slow down the plane to land. Third - the plane will turn and its a weird feeling at first. You can see the wing on the other side tip up and your side of the plane tips down on its side a bit. Again nothing to worry about. Good Luck

Most people bring a book but, boy you can't read it during turbulence!!! Just remember that turbulence is just air pockets and youll be fine. Grip the arm-seat tight. Bring lots of gum so you don't bit your tongue. Takeoff is the best part, you will feel yourself getting lifted by the wind. Do NOT look out the window when taking off because if you get turbulence taking off you just may pee yourself. The engine will shut off when they want to try to land...to slow the plane down. It does not mean that the airplane is going to crash or has lost power of fuel. :D Once you are up and stable, take a look out the window and check it out. Its kind of cool seeing cities become legos like. Bring music but you will most definitely keep clicking it on and off when you hit turbulence. Its just a natural response because you want to see what's going on and if you are going to crash :D. You won't because you have a higher change of being a a car crash than you do in a plane crash. Good statistics to know when you are up there. Don't freak out when the fasten seat-belts sign comes on, it does not mean you will crash it just means there is lots of turbulence. Just be armed with the fact that you are with professionals and they know what they are doing.
