does any one know cheap flight or cheaper ways to transport dogs? i have a 75 pound dog and all of the flights are like 500!!! my mother refuses to pay that much. i need to fly him from kansas city MO to seattle WA. if i cant find any thing she will just put him to sleep... it is my first dog and i would be heart broken for him to be killed.

if you killed the dog just because you couldnt take him is inhumane. find someone to care for him until you can pick him up or you could pay a firend or someone to drive him up for you.

try contacting some rescues and see if a transport can be arranged.. there is a yahoo group called Truck n' Paws.. or something like that... that might be able to help. Otherwise, no, there's not really a cheaper way.. most professional ground transport services cost 2-3 times what it costs to ship by air.

i'll pick him up, then give him to my friend in between MO and WA and he'll bring it to WA for ya for cheap

Why would she put the dog to sleep? Get prices from all the airlines or start driving

I am so sorry your mom would do that. All I can suggest is to try and earn the money or borrow it somewhere. I don't know how old you are but I am assuming young so unfortunately I can't offer help other than that. Parents sometimes have to make hard choices...I hope she makes the right one for you can your dog.

what the heck is wrong with you? you give him to a rescue if you can't afford it. better to give him up anyway because what will you do if he ever got sick or injured and needs emergency vet care for hundreds of $? look for rescues and foster care. add: oh yeah judging by your posting history, IT ALREADY happened that he needed vet care, and you didnt take him. that's animal neglect. this dog is better off PTS or given up to rescue. I read his/her q. And I read their previous q's of neglect. If the OP does not put effort in to find a foster or drive, his mother will kill the dog. what's the difference? And according to his previous q's, he lives in WA with his mother already.

Your mother is NOT being fair! How dare she say it will be put to sleep!!! Find a GOOD LOVING home for this dog if you cannot take it with you....Wow..I cannot beleive that is your mothers solution!!!! NO WAY..!!!! Im sorry but I don't like her

Take him to a friend to see if by chance you can't take him so he has a home.Try to google something about cheap ways to get a dog somewhere on a plane.

I suggest that if you cannot find a way to send your dog up to take it to the local SPCA or a no-kill shelter. Her wanting to kill a dog simply because she cannot transport it is cruelty. At a no-kill shelter they'll either wait until someone adopts it. I know this must be a hard time for you, but talk to her about this option. It'll be better for the dog instead of having it's wonderful life cut short. I understand that you may not be in a position to make decisions or be able to find a way to transport them. But I hope that she'll at least consider this for the dog's sake. I hope for the best for you and your dog. May he live a long and happy life.

Try Delta Dash, that is how I have always flown my pets, $500 seems like an awfully lot. I fly my pets in cargo, they are just fine. My cats have gone this way (numerous times) and so did my Lab. I think the cats were $80 and the Lab was $115. They are very good with the animals, and do not leave them on the tarmac. You will have to be within certain ground temperatures and have a health certificate from a vet. @ ♥shelter puppies rule♥ and Skyler Shay Did you two NOT read the poor girls question!? You are yelling at her when it is her MOTHER who wants to put the poor dog down. SHAME ON YOU TWO! READ THE QUESTION! And like many have suggested, I would also say to take the dog to a no kill shelter if you are unable have the dogs flown to you. Or perhaps drive them, if that is possible. Ok Denzel...I know you are about 15 yrs. old. So, you cannot drive. Can any Family members, and friends chip in $20-25 each to help you? In every state, there are groups of people that transport animals all over the country. Contact a Rescue League for the breed of your dog (Boxer) to ask them to network out for you. I have another idea for you: Call ANY Travel Agent in your Mom's area. Tell them the story, and ask them to help you. They will give you the best information, and they know the questions to ask the airlines about your dog. You will have to have an Airline APPROVED Kennel for your dog, (Petsmart has them, or you can buy one used) and you must have a VET give your dog clearance to fly. That means all shots have to be up to date. Do that today.......email me and let me know what you found out. We are very upset for you, but if this is a young dog, as appearing in your avatar, I do not think she will find a Vet who would put him to sleep (PTS). Anyway, email me with all particulars.
