Inner ear itching from pain meds or flying and a stitch ? too please?
I am on Avinza {extended relase mrphine} and Dilaudid for pain control on a daily basis and last night I was up and down all darn night trying to use a q tip to stop the itching, peroxide, and just gently rubbing at it it my finger in the outer ear but this itching is on the inside and my ear started getting pretty red after I stopped trying to fix it, its almost like flea or mosquito bite deep in the ear... Could that be from my pain medication? or Maybe my quite regular flying? I fly to Kansas City on a quite regular basis, recently not so much but it is a 3 or 4 pass plane like a beechcraft bonanza so not in the air for long about 9O mins each way thats it BUT my ears starting itching real bad a few months back after a flight from KC so not sure if that has anything to do with it either... Also if it is from the pain meds is there an alternative equal in strength but not so equal on the icky side effects... OK the stitch question... I had another port put in about 3 weeks ago now and the stitches are disolvable.. or supposed to be, my incision has been itching like cazy bad and for the most part it is healed fully now, BUT there is one spot where it itches and the stitch is still in not disolved... any advice? I am trying to avoid another medical bill to my surgeon for one measely stitch

You could have some sort of infection in your ear canal and probably need someone to look in there and see if you need an antibiotic - especially since it is getting red. As for the stitch - call your surgeon and get their advice over the phone - this kind of advice doesn't need a clinic visit unless he wants you to come in and they will take the stitch out. Your family physician should be able to take care of the ear thing for you. I do not believe this is related to your pain medications because if you were having an allergic reaction of some sort, you would have symptoms on other parts of your body also.
